Members of two families lost their lives in the crash. The victims hailed from Maharashtra and Karnataka. According to police, two persons sitting in one car and three persons in another car were killed in the collision. Two women and a child were among the deceased.

Three police officials—an inspector and two police constables—in Narayanpet district of Telangana were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. The accused officers were identified as Makthal CI G Chandrasekhar and two constables Shiva Reddy and Narasimha. They allegedly accepted the bribe from the complainant in exchange for an official favour: reducing the severity of the charges while filing a chargesheet against him in a rape case registered at Makthal police station, according to a release from the ACB. The bribe amount was recovered from one of the constables, the ACB said. The accused officials had improperly and dishonestly performed their duties to obtain an undue advantage, the ACB said and added that the case is under investigation.

 man was beaten to death by a group over a land dispute in Telangana’s Narayanpet district on Friday, police said. The ghastly incident occurred in Chinnaporla village of Utkoor mandal. Guvvali Sanju, 28, was attacked by a group of villagers with sticks. They continued thrashing him after he collapsed on the ground. He was later shifted to a hospital in Mahabubnagar, where he succumbed while undergoing treatment. The visuals of the assailants thrashing Sanju were extensively shared on different social media platforms. When the police shifted the victim’s body for autopsy, his family members and relatives staged a protest. They alleged that police failed to respond when they dialled 100. Taking serious note of the complaint, Inspector General of Police (Multi zone-II) G. Sudheer Babu suspended Bijja Srinivasulu, Sub-Inspector, Utkoor Police Station for neglecting duties. It has come to the notice of the IGP that Bijja Srinivasulu, a responsible Station House Officer, exhibited gross negligence and misconduct by failing to provide an appropriate and immediate response to a complaint at Utkoor Police Station, according to a police statement. “Disciplinary proceedings against Bijja Srinivasulu are now contemplated. After careful consideration of the available material and the circumstances of the case, it has been determined that it is necessary in the public interest to place Bijja Srinivasulu under suspension,” it said. Meanwhile, police arrested four accused in the case.

A 55-year-old farmer Ginka Thimappa was killed by a crocodile in Bheema River at his Kusummurthy village in Narayanpet district of Telangana on Saturday afternoon, while another villager Shivappa Gowda escaped miraculously in the incident. Accompanied by Shivappa, Thimappa went to his agricultural land abutting the Bheema River. He was checking the pipeline valve connected to the electrical motor to draw water from the river when the crocodile came from behind and attacked him around 2.15 pm.
